Louise Bourgeois
Bourgeois is a famous sculptor, she is still alive && is 97 years of age. She was born in Paris and was raised by both her parents and came from a big family. She worked at her families business of restoring antique tapestries as a child. Her mom tough her how to draw when she was young.
After reading the book and looking at her art work online, i found her art is one of a kind, very simple but with a lot of meaning. One of her most famous sculptures is a larger sculpture of a spider that is located outside of a museum in London. Her most important work is dominated by images of crippling fear, ghost, torture and darkness. Also, many of her sculptures include sexuality.
Josiah McElheny
McElheny is also a sculptor that lives in Brooklyn New York, he was born in 1966. McElheny is known for his glass sculptures that are displayed in galleries and museus. He draws form the decorative and functional traditions of glass craft. He works is very detailed and full of passion and love. I researched images of his work and it looks like there is so much life to the sculptures. Although it just is something simple as glass it is yet complex and contemporary at the same time. Many of his pieces do not have any color but just the sculpture it self gives it enough color and life. I really like this artist especially his work it is amazing how someone has the talent to make sculptures out of simple glass and add so much passion and love to it that it almost becomes alive.

Performance Art Lecture
This lecture was mostly about different artist and a little about their background. We also talked about, what is art ? && what makes a good artist. It was discussed that being a good artist you must have a good gallerie where you could display the wonderful art work that you've painted. Also, having a fan base is important, people that can buy your art work and are willing to pay for it, this brings money in and you could succeed even more by being able to paint more painting and selling them or displaying them and letting them be seen. This leads to power, you can obtain power by being in demand with the painting and art work you are creating. Lastly being creative and having a imagination is going to help developing wonder pieces of art work.
Glenn also touched on an Artis by the name of Marina Abramovic:
I have never heard about this artis till Tuesday night. I then went home after class and i began to research more about her. I then found out that she is an abstract artis and an artist the performs. Marina performances aren't like any other type, she often involves putting herself in great danger and performing, harmful routines that result in her being cut or sometimes even burnt.
I honestly think she is a interesting artist, but i dont think it is safe what she does but if she loves it and thats art to her then so be it. :)
Quote - "When I am performing a piece, anything that happens in that moment is part of the piece."

Four Yip Vs Comet Morigi
Four Yip
The style features human and humanistic type creatures that have animalistic attributes and small animal companions. A lot of the characters that she paints wear skin tight masks. The facial features of the people have a realistic feel to them which she softens up by adding animal fur, ears, and outfits. Her creations all have a common theme, fantasy.Yip shows a fantasy in her second life that no one could discover in her first life. The mask and the way Yip poses shows some sexual fantasy that she wants to have.
Comet Morigi
The Video Experience
This last class meeting was fun yet interesting. I loved the fact that we had a potluck and we all got to eat together and enjoyed all the food we brought for each other. After we all ate and talked with each other Glenn then tough us how to make videos on our laptops and upload them on to YouTube.
At first I honestly didn't like the idea of making videos i never had made one before especially infront of all my other classmates. I kept eating and enjoying my food, then two of the girls that were sitting next to me and i decided to make 2 videos together this way it would be a lot easier and funner. We then bagan to record our first video we talk about what Art ment to us and how we felt about it. After finishing recording it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, we then decided to make another video and talk about who we are. After we were done with both videos we uploaded them on YouTube then we posted them on our blogs.
Over all, I liked making videos it was a fun experience especially because i didn't make it on my own i had two other buddies helping me out. If i had to choose between making a video or writing on my blog, i would feel more confortable writing on my blog rather than making a video. I think i would be able to express better in through words. :D

Cindy Sherman
Cindy Sherman was born in January 19, 1954, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. After Sherman's birth her family moved to Huntington, Long Island. Sherman became interested in the visual arts at Buffalo State College, where she began painting. Sherman realized that all she was doing was copying someone's else painting and later she started thinking of using a camera and put some time into and idea. Throughout college she spent the rest of her career focused in photography. Although Sherman failed a photography class her freshman year in college, she took the class again with a professor named Barbara Jo Revelle, she introduced Sherman to conceptual art and other contemporary forms. While Sherman was in college, she met Robert Longo who encouraged her to record her process of dressing up for parties and more. When Sherman graduated from college, she decided to move to New York to start her new career in art. Sherman began taking photographs of herself, these photographs became known as the Untitled Film Stills, the most recognized photographs of Sherman's career. Sherman shoots pictures alone in her studio, assuming multiple roles as author, director, make-up artist, hairstylist, mistress and model. She uses different costumes and make-up to transform her identity for each image. Sherman does not consider her work feminist. I will display some of Sherma's photographs.

This painting called The Starry Night is one of my favorite paintings since i was young. When i look at this image it reminds me of all the times ive been to Mexico and i go outside and i can see the entire village under me. The sky has the same color as the painting light blue with some dark blue, the bright yellow stars illuminating through the clouds. The moon is so big and bright it looks like the plante Mars right in front of our eyes. This painting even make me think of a particular smell of when im in Mexico, the smell of burning fresh wood. I like staring at this painting when i miss my country. :)

Lecture: What is Reality ?
Glenn's lecture was interesting this past Tuesday. He talked about what really is reality to us, although it differs between people and it affects us in different ways it was still interesting listening to others opinions during class.
Inception has you thinking at the end of the movie, if Cobb was living in a dream or reality. The second time around when i watched this movie again i realized the ending was designed for the audience to conclude their own ending for the movie.
REALITY
What is reality? do things like you, me, Cypress College the car parked outside exist outside our minds ???
can objects or thought be all illusions ?

REALITY
What is reality? do things like you, me, Cypress College the car parked outside exist outside our minds ???
can objects or thought be all illusions ?
For example, have you even walked to your backyard late at night when there isnt any light and you hear strange noises ? and from the corner of your eye you see something but when you turn your head there isnt anything there. Whats it an illusion ? or was your mind playing games with you. Sometimes I feel that reality can be something your mind creates, things that we think of daily do compromise our reality.
Thinking of dreams they can be a reality also, but that has not yet taken its physical form. When a dream becomes real, they turn into something that you can perceive with just physical senses. Some people really believe in dreams, so much that they even own dream books so they can look up objects form their dreams and somehow the book will tell them what the future holds. Dreams can bring about the reality that we cant actually perceive right now and those dreams comprise the rest of what reality actually is. The thinking process makes you realize dreams or make dreams reality. Just like when u think negative then all the negative enegry and reality will come to you. Likewise, if you think in a positive manner then all the positive reality will come to you just like you envisioned it. My conclusion is reality can start from the mind.
But reality doesn't always have to be physical.
This lecture has made me think outside the box, I never deeply thought about REALITY till today.

Maya Lin VS Lauren Bon
Maya Lin is famous for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. Lin was 21 years old when she attended Yale University in 1982 and created the Veterans Memorials Wall. Lin was studying to become an architect and as a project she decided to design the Veteran Memorial Wall. This is one of Lin's most memorable earth works involving architecture and many different designs to construct this wall.
The Veterans Memorial Wall is a V-shape wall made out of black stones. The Veterans Memorial Wall is in the shape of an open book ready to read the names of the 58,000 dead soldiers. The names of all the dead soldiers are inscribed in polish black granite. The wall itself was made fro . m black granite from Bangalore, India. The walls also reflect the images of the trees, people visiting the walls and more. In order to read the names of all the soldiers that died in the Vietnam war, people have to stand below the horizon which is around six feet under. The wall is 246 feet and nine inches long. The walls are sunk into the ground with the earth behind them. The color of the trees are green mix with some yellow. The walls look like they are surrounded around a circle of trees
Lauren Bon
The South Central Farm was there between 1992 and 2006. It was a 13 acre community garden. It was an urban farm and community garden. The south central farm was considered the largest urban farms in the United States. However, the South Central Farm started facing money problems, so Lauren Bon worked behind the scenes to come up with a sustainable solution to the immediate South Central crisis.
In 2006, the Annenberg Foundation decided to move the remaining trees off the South Central Farm to Farmlab in order to save the trees as the developer clears the land upon the Farm operated. Farmlab has helped keep living plants, and everything is due to Lauren Bon. Lauren Bon goal is to keep nature alive and not let the earth destroy all the living trees, plants, flowers, and seeds.

Class Lecture on Ancient Art
In last week class lecture, Glenn talked about ancient art which was very interesting because we got to know about all the different types of ancient art that we have in this world. When Glenn showed the pebble
I didn't know that this pebble was considered art because it looked so weird to me, it just looked simply like a rock. Then once I started looking at the art pebble, it seem very interesting. I believe that all of these art pebbles are hand made and were created maybe three million years ago. Its very interesting to learn about art because art can be anything you want it to be. In the beginning before I took art I tought that art was only paintings on the wall and that was it. Now I realize so many things can be considered art for example a simple tree can be art, a picture of a car even your little sister note book can be a piece of art.
